EPSEPS Glossary

The following list of terms and phrases is provided to help you understand their meaning in the context of EPS2.0

EPS2.0

Stands for Educational Positioning System. It is a comprehensive, web-based self-review tool for whole school development. The 2.0 suffix acknowledges the work that has been done prior to this instance of the EPS.

 

Polar Map The circular diagram used to represent the feedback from the EPS survey. Referred to as a map because it provides information about the educational landscape and where your school is located within it. polar map
Dimensions
Three key dimensions provide the framework for the EPS. These dimensions are:
  • Techniques, strategies and structures
  • Philosophical frameworks
  • Community and culture
Elements

There are six elements within each dimension that focus specifically on areas where further work and development can be undertaken.

 

Sector

The section of the EPS Polar Map that relates to one element.

 

School administrator

The representative of a school who has been delegated responsibility to enrol a school to use the EPS online tool, and who then has responsibility at the school level for coordinating participation and access to the feedback.
