Getting Started with EPS

EPSUSING THE ONLINE TOOL

Getting started with EPS is easy. The first thing you'll need to do is to identify someone in your school who will take responsibility for coordinating the use of the tool. This person will be referred to as your school administrator, and should be the person who takes responsibility for enrolling your school to use EPS.

School Administrators:

Registering your school:

  1. Go to http://eps2.core-ed.net/enrol and enter the details as requested. (Please note that fields marked * are required)
NB - This form should be completed only once for each school. The access key that is generated is unique for each school. It is important that all care is taken to ensure that the access key is kept confidential to the staff of the designated school, and not shared with anyone else.
  2. An email will be sent to you at the address you entered containing the URL for the start page and an access key for you to distribute to each of the teachers in your school so they can complete the EPS online survey.
  3. You will receive a second email containing your administrator login details. This will consist of a username and a password that has been randomly generated. (You will be able to change this password after you have logged in for the first time.)
  4. To log in simply click on the EPS administrators link at http://eps2.core-ed.net/enrol on the menu.

Engaging Staff:

When you have received the first email containing the URL and access key, enter the details in the suggested text for the body of an email to staff, and distribute the email to members of your school staff. This email will also contain the URL linking to a downloadable file containing instructions for use that staff can download to guid them through the process.

More information for administrators can be found on a downloadable PDF "Guide for School Administrators" available here.

Teachers:

Before you can begin using the survey you will need to obtain an access key from your school administrator. (Your school administrator is the member of staff who has been given the task of co-ordinating the use of the EPS in your school.)

The access key consists of a series of letters/numbers that are unique to your school, and will identify the responses you make to the survey with your school, and allow them to be combined with the responses from all of the other staff at your school to produce the final report. It is important that you do not share this key with anyone else.

Your responses to the survey will be kept anonymous, however, you may create an optional password or passphrase that will allow you to return to the survey tool to complete your responses in more than one sitting or to review your answers. Because we do not collect any personal information or email addresses connected with your responses, there is no way to recover a forgotten passphrase – please make sure you keep a record of it.

Once you have logged in you can make your individual responses to a series of 72 statements using the online tool. This process should take approx. 45 minutes, and can be completed at a time and place that suits you, providing you have access to the Internet. Opportunity exists for the survey to be completed in stages rather than in a single sitting.

More information for those completing the survey can be found on a downloadable PDF "Instructions for Use" available here.
